Great night last night at the "Library Therèse" Course Belgium 49bis / A in Turin: the presentation of the book "As long as there is the sea" by Paola Carpinello. In an informal and fun, some of the characters in the novel: Joseph and Judith, a retired City of Turin, the seamstress and cook, Marina, Antonio, Inspector of Police Prison, Sandro, the son of Marina and Antonio, Vincenzo, retired police sergeant, Charles, sergeant of the Guardia di Finanza, Amerigo, a professor of computer science; Panaghiotis, the owner of a taverna on the Greek island of Astypalea, Tabu, the improbable mutt ... were painted in their original "normal" through a kind of reading "theatrical-dialect" of certain passages of the book.

"Provided there is the sea" (Editor Ananke, Torino, 2011) is the second novel by Paola Carpinello. The first, entitled "The Gift of Joan (Publisher Battei, Parma, 2006), as a reference the city of Parma and narrates the discovery of the House of the Convent of St. Paul, fresco by Correggio, officially attributed to the" painter philosopher " Anton Raphael Mengs.

The events described in "Provided there is the sea" take place in a district of Torino, Borgo Vittoria: a place for anything exotic, in which things happen quite "normal" to partire dalla truffa di cui è vittima l'anziano protagonista; un posto dove è possibile imbattersi in personaggi simili a quelli osservati e descritti dall'Autrice con ironia e affetto. Ciò che non è altrettanto comune è il periodo in cui è ambientata la vicenda, le Olimpiadi invernali del 2006. Un tempo in cui tutto - o quasi - diventa possibile, e in cui i personaggi, talvolta all'insaputa della narratrice, danno prova di possedere risorse insospettabili. A tal punto da progettare una vera e propria fuga. Dove? In un posto qualsiasi, purché sia lontano, purché ci sia il mare (dalla "quarta di copertina" del testo).
